Re-use of public information

The Bordeaux municipal Archives conserve administrative documents which include public information that can be reused, as specified in paragraph 10 of law n° 78-753 of July 17 1978.

This concerns two categories of information:

- public information held at the Bordeaux municipal Archives representing all the archive collections contributed by all the public archive producers;

- public information produced by the Bordeaux municipal Archives such as inventories and data bases describing the content of documents conserved at the municipal Archives.

The re-use of public information is defined as a usage “for other ends than those aimed at the public service for which the documents were produced or received”.

Any natural or legal, private or public body, that requests the re-use of public information conserved or produced by the municipal Archives must, no matter what type of usage is intended (private, commercial, with or without the reproduction of pictures, with or without publication on the internet or any other media) first request authorization from the director of the Bordeaux municipal Archives – 71, rue du Loup, 33000 Bordeaux.

Hypertext links

The Bordeaux municipal Archives website authorizes the setting up of hypertext links pointing to its content, provided that:

- the pages of the website www.archives.bordeaux.fr are not embedded in another site, but remain fully accessible in another window.

- the source « official website of the Bordeaux municipal Archives », which will appear thanks to a hypertext link directly over the targeted content, will be clearly shown.

The information used must only be for personal, associative or scientific gain; all use for commercial or advertising purposes is strictly forbidden.

Please note! The authorization does not apply to internet sites containing controversial, pornographic, xenophobic information or information which, to a greater degree, may be liable to offend the great majority of people.

For other usages, please contact us.

Any authorization given by the Bordeaux municipal Archives is at their discretion and can be withdrawn at any time and without reason.
